Finally, launching the first game

Hi,

I always wanted to become a game developer. After working in a few game development companies, my focus had shifted to the indie game development. From 2013, I quit my job and started working on my own indie game idea. The first idea didn't work well. It was a match 3 3D RPG game—I wanted to create something unique where a player can fight against hordes of enemies like in the Diablo, but in a quite unique style. My ambition was high, but my skillset was limited. The project became bloated and there was very little hope to finish the project. I spent two and a half years, experimenting different ideas.  At around that time, my daughter was born. Now, I didn't have the luxury to spend more time on the same project. I decided to stop or at least pause the project.

After my daughter was born, lots of things have changed. Both my wife and I needed to take turn to take care of my daughter. My work hours was severely limited and I also needed to find some freelance works to support my family. After the failure of the first project, I felt I needed to work on much simpler ideas so that I could at least finish it. I started creating a much simpler puzzle game with the original game rules. That was mixing colors to create a certain patterns by rolling a cube. After spending six months, the game was almost ready. However, I wasn't happy about it. It was just another game. In the end, I didn't finish it—again, no launch.

I was exhausted in making games. That was partially after years of failure. I questioned my self about the meaning of making games. That was the time when I switched my focus on something which was not games. It was late 2017, we tried to create something different that was a collage photo app called "Kids Moments".  It was very natural, as my interest was in spending time with my daughter. After developing for a year or so, the first non game app was finished and we were able to launch it. However, the app sales didn't work well, but we were desperate to try another project. It was in January 2019 when my wife nudged me again to finish the old game idea—Colorful Palette.

Once there was a fantasy of becoming a great indie developer who has published at least a couple of amazing games—it's simply not me. However, I still want to make games, even though there are tons of games. I hope I can continue this journey while honing my skills by learning many subjects. The first game "Colorful Palette" is finally finished and launched! That is the reason why I feel so humble, but at the same time proud about my game.

Thank you for reading this section.
